To get started you need to:

1. It is recommended to use the FireFox or Chrome Browser for A Billion Stories to display correctly. If you do not have these, download these from here (Mozilla Firefox, Chrome).

2. Get a hands-on experience on our online language keypad in your preferred language.

3. Download the offline tools to author works in your preferred language (if you are a regular author).

4. Read our terms and conditions of submitting on this website.

5. Follow the Guidelines for Submission to increase your acceptance rate and consequent reputation as an author.

6. Join A Billion Stories Online Group (Optional).

7. Start submitting your work to us.

Online authoring and submission>>
Authors need to type in using the virtual keypad of their preferred language - and then copy-paste the text into the form before submitting.

Offline authoring and submission>>
Alternately, you can download any of the following IMEs to create content in your native language (in Unicode) offline and then submit it using this website.

Seeing Squares?

Not able to read the text in your favorite language? Seeing all squares instead? Well, you will need to install the font to your PC. What you need to do is based on the OS you have. So here are some instructions to help you get off your feet.

For Windows XP, Windows 7 Users

Download the font file (.ttf) shared here and copy it into c:\windows\fonts\

For Mac OS X 10.3 or higher:

Double click the font file and fontbook will open a preview of the font.
Click “install font” at the bottom of the preview.

For Ubuntu users:
First, create a font directory in /usr/share/fonts/truetype. Call this directory newfonts. Issue the command sudo mkdir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/newfonts. You will have to enter your sudo password to complete this task. Once this directory is created, place all your *ttf or *TTF files in the newfonts directory. With the fonts in place you will then need to issue the command fc-cache -f -v to make the system aware of the new fonts. Once this is done, the system knows about the new fonts and all the system users will have access to them.
