What is a Poem?

posted Oct 1, 2013, 5:16 AM by A Billion Stories   [ updated Oct 1, 2013, 5:25 AM ]

Poem is an art where language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to its apparent meaning.

Usually poems are rhythmic but rhythm is not a necessary quality of a poem. A good poem normally evokes very strong emotions or conveys very deep and possibly multiple meanings - in a compressed form.

A poem could be one line or run into thousands of stanzas (called "Mahakaavya" in Sanskrit), but the large majority of them are between 4 lines to 200 lines.

It is recommended to keep your poems short. But if you are still interested to submit very long poems you are welcome. So go  on.. use the form below to submit your creation/ಕ್ಱುತಿ.

What is image/video URL?

posted Jul 22, 2012, 9:10 PM by A Billion Stories

The submission of images/videos to ABS does not require the images to be uploaded to ABS. You only need to submit the "internet address" of the image to ABS, not the image itself. The internet address is called "URL" and starts with "http://" or "https://".

You can upload your images to any online image hosting and sharing service such as Flickr, Picasa or Facebook and then provide us with the URL of the images while submitting the form. You can copy the URL of the image by selecting the right option after right-clicking on the uploaded image. Then you need to paste it in the form.

Facebook image URLs are permanent, hence are preferred. Flickr and Picasa image URLs become invalid when the photos are deleted.

Note: It is recommended to use Firefox or Chrome as your browser.
